About Me
Working With A Great Dentist

I have always been one of those people who loves to get out into the world and talk with other people, but a few years ago, I realized that I had to do something about my smile. My teeth were yellow and unattractive, and it was really discouraging to see how much different my smile was. I knew that I needed to get my teeth fixed, so I started working with a professional dentist to make things right. Within a few short months, my smile was completely transformed, and I knew that I owed it all to my dental professional. Check out this blog for more information about working with a dentist.

4 Natural Remedies For Gum Disease

Harper Hughes

Gum disease is a serious problem. Its effects reach far beyond your mouth. Gum disease not only causes bad breath and missing teeth, it can lead to heart disease or respiratory issues. The main cause of gum disease is lack of proper dental hygiene. If you have been diagnosed with gum disease, you can take natural steps to try to battle it. Here are four tips that you can use in this regard.

Use a Natural Toothpaste to Brush Your Teeth

Find a natural toothpaste that does not contain fluoride. Place a few drops of neem or tea tree oil on your toothbrush before applying the toothpaste. These two oils contain antiseptic properties and they can destroy bacteria in your mouth. They are effective and natural gum disease treatments.

Colloidal Silver and Water Mouth Rinse

Rinse your mouth with colloidal silver and water. Mix a cup of water with a few drops of colloidal silver and then gargle with this rinse once in the morning and at night each day. Colloidal silver destroys germs in your mouth. It is a very powerful agent that destroys bacteria.

Soak Your Toothbrush in Hydrogen Peroxide Once a Week

Did you know that your toothbrush regularly harbors harmful bacteria? You do not want to use this same toothbrush to brush your teeth because it will transfer this harmful bacteria to your mouth. You may not be able to remove it completely by brushing. Once a week, soak your toothbrush in one cap of hydrogen peroxide so that it will kill the bacteria on your toothbrush.

Use an Herbal Mouth Rinse

Before the advance of the colorful mouth rinses that line supermarket shelves, mouth rinses were made from the essential oils of herbs such as myrrh, calendula, and golden seal. Place 30 drops from each oil in a bottle. Add one quarter (1/4) of a teaspoon of this herbal mixture to a cup of water. Now place the mixture of oils and water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on your gums. Gargle with this mixture for 30 seconds, then spit it out.

You can use natural remedies to try to combat gum disease. They are effective and the good news is that they do not contain any harmful chemicals. Even if you use these natural remedies, you will still need to practice good dental hygiene to keep gum disease away. Speak with your dentist to find out about other remedies and treatments for gum disease.
